Location: Canaan Valley, West Virginia
This weekend workshop will be bases in the scenic Allegheny Highlands of West Virginia where we will be photographing a variety of subjects from waterfalls, canyon views, mountain top vistas, woodland scenics and more. Based out of Canaan Valley, we will have quick and easy access to all locations and will also have classroom lectures on composition, use of light, photographic techniques, digital development and image critiques.
Friday May 27th - The workshop starts at 5pm with a meet and greet followed by photographic presentations focusing on field techniques for the weekend ahead. We will then head out for sunset.
Saturday May 28th - Sunrise/morning field session, afternoon class focusing on image processing techniques. Afternoon/sunset field session.
Sunday May 29th - Sunrise/morning field session, afternoon class focusing on image processing techniques and group image critique. Afternoon/sunset field session.
Monday May 30th - Sunrise/morning shoot. Workshop ends no later than 10am. Goodbyes.
While there are no long hikes on this workshop (our longest hike would be approximately 1/2 mile each way) participants will need to be able to climb down hillsides and walk across rocky and uneven surfaces.
Getting to Canaan Valley & Lodging:
For those flying into the workshop, the nearest major airports are Pittsburg International Airport ( 3 hour drive) and Dulles International Airport ( 3 hour drive).
We have reserved a block of rooms at Blackwater Falls State Park Lodge. Room rate is 125.00 before tax. Blackwater Lodge is also where we will be conducting our classroom sessions.
