Workshop Highlights
Join me in one of the most unique and beautiful destines in the southeast USA where we will be photographing the ghostly beauty of a rarely visited and photographed cypress swamp. Each day we will explore and photograph the cypress dressed in their autumn colors with hanging moss and perfect reflections as we shoot from both land and kayak. In the afternoons, each day, we will have a dedicated 1-2 hours of classroom time back at the hotel to cover all the essentials of image editing as well as critiques of your work.
The swamp we will be visiting has some of the most unique cypress tree's I have photographed and in late October we will have pleasant daytime temperatures and no bugs or critters to contend with. It is truly a magical experience floating through the still waters of the swamp and photographing this amazing ecosystem.
This is a trip that you won't soon forget and you're guaranteed to come back home with some amazing images that anyone would be proud to hang on the walls!
Itinerary
Day 1: Meet & Greet starting at 2pm followed by a 2 hour classroom session covering all the basics of camera setting, composition and essential techniques for successfully photographing in the cypress swamp. We will have a group dinner in town that evening to kick off a great week of photography.
Day 2,3 &4: On each day, we will be on location at the swamp well before first light to set up and shoot from twilight into sunrise. After a land based sunrise shoot, we will launch our kayaks (included) and paddle amongst the cypress capturing amazing images. After returning to town, you will be given a break for meals and short nap. We will have a 1-2 hour class session each day at the hotel before heading back into the swamp to photograph until the sun sets.
Workshop Concludes after final sunset shoot.
Difficulty Level
This workshop is rated easy to moderate. There are no hikes involved and all land based shoots are short walks from the parking area. We will be kayaking each day and that will involve easy paddling sessions on flat and complete still water. Plan to be in the kayak and out on the water for an average of 2 - 3 hours each day.
Workshop Terms & Conditions
A $1,000.00 deposit is required to hold your spot and the remaining balance of 2,000 dollars is due no later than 60 days before the workshop start date. All deposits are refundable, minus a 200.00 fee, only if we are able to fill your spot. If you you cancel the workshop after the final billing you will receive a refund only if we can fill your spot (minus a 500.00 cancelation fee).
