Held by Winter was captured in the remote desert of Grand Staircase–Escalante National Monument, where the final traces of autumn meet the first breath of winter. A single fallen leaf rests delicately at the boundary between warm desert sand and a veil of crystalline frost, its edges adorned with intricate ice formations that feel almost sculpted by the season itself. Every creative decision was carefully considered, from conception, composition and exposure, to processing and printing.
