Adventure Awaits: Be Ready for the Oregon Coast
This workshop is as much about the journey as it is about the destination. Some of our shooting locations require hikes of up to 1 mile each way, traversing rocky and uneven terrain. You’ll explore the rugged coastline on foot, venturing down to where the waves meet the shore to capture breathtaking compositions.
Expect to Get Wet: Whether it’s wading into the surf for the perfect angle or feeling the spray of the Pacific, this is photography up close and personal with nature’s power.
To ensure you’re fully prepared for the elements, we’ll send a detailed gear list 60 days in advance. From sturdy footwear to water-resistant gear, you’ll have everything you need to tackle the terrain and make the most of your experience.
This isn’t just a photography workshop—it’s a hands-on adventure. Embrace the challenge, and discover what it takes to create stunning seascape images!

Be Ready for the Oregon Coast
Early September on the Oregon Coast offers some of the year’s most inviting weather. Expect moderately warm daytime temperatures around 80°F and cooler evenings dropping to 55°F. While rain isn’t likely, the coastal environment can be unpredictable, so preparation is key to a seamless and enjoyable experience.
Gear and Clothing Recommendations:
Dress in Layers: The temperature shifts between sunrise, midday, and sunset make layering essential for comfort throughout the day.
Waterproof Gear: Pack a rain or waterproof cover for your camera and lens, as photographing near water and rocks means potential exposure to ocean spray.
Hydration is Vital: Stay energized by drinking water consistently during the day and evening.
Footwear for Water Photography: Waders or river sandals with neoprene socks are highly recommended for safely navigating the shoreline and capturing shots at the water’s edge.
By coming prepared, you’ll fully embrace the stunning opportunities this workshop offers—immersing yourself in the coastal beauty while staying comfortable and camera-ready.
