WILDFLOWERS & WATERFALLS OF THE COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP

APRIL 24-27, 2020 - HOODRIVER, OR

 
 

This workshop is timed to allow us to photography lush valleys filled with spring wildflowers as well as exploring the lesser known and often not visited waterfalls on the Washington side of the gorge. While the waterfalls and trails in the Columbia River Gorge on the Oregon side are busy, often photographed and many damaged after the wildfire a couple years back, the Washington side of the gorge has just as many and just as stunning falls to photograph and often times we will have many location to ourselves!

Each morning we will be waking up for sunrise where we will be photographing fields of wildflowers over the Columbia Gorge. After sunrise, we will immediately be traveling to waterfalls oil the Washington side of the Columbia River for hours of shooting waterfalls and rainforest images. In the evening, we will venture back to the wildflower fields for sunset.

ITINERARY

  • April 24 - We begin in Hood River with an instructional classroom session. Lectures will cover composition, techniques for capturing water, focus stacking, exposure blending and an overview of locations we will visit over the course of the workshop. That evening we will travel out for a sunset with wildflowers and hopefully dramatic skies.

  • April 25 - Sunrise wildflower shoot, Waterfalls during the remainder ion the day, Sunset wildflower shoot.

  • April 26 - Sunrise wildflower shoot, Waterfalls during the remainder ion the day, Sunset wildflower shoot.

  • April 27 - Sunrise wildflower shoot. 2 hour classroom covering photo processing techniques. Ends at 11am.

ACCOMMODATIONS & TRAVEL

The nearest airport is Portland International Airport (1 hour drive to Hood River, OR)

A Standard rental car is fine for this workshop.

BOOKING

A non-refundable deposit of 300.00 USD is required to secure a space on this workshop. Final payment is due 60 days prior to the start of this workshop. There is no refund after the final payment has been made (unless we can fill your spot). Please see our cancellation policy for more detailed information.

PHYSICAL DIFFICULTY

Some of the waterfalls we will be hiking to are fairly challenging to get to. The trails can be steep, wet and rocky, so good physical shape is required. The longest hike will be around 4 miles RT, with about 650 feet of elevation gain.
