Join me in Uncertain Texas on Caddo Lake for one of the most unique photo workshops out there. On this workshop we will explore and photograph the hauntingly beautiful flooded cypress swamps. The Bald Cypress at this time of the year are cloaked in stunning fall colors and it is simply a photographers paradise. Workshop includes all tour costs including boat and kayak rentals.
From shore and boat, we will have opportunities to capture the quiet mystery of the second-largest non-oxbow natural lake in the south and one of the largest flooded cypress forests in the US. This location is one of the most unique natural areas in the United States and should be on every photographers bucket list. It is simply amazing!!
Includes
5 days of intensive photography instruction in the field and classroom, image lectures. image critiques, post processing training in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.
Does Not Include
Airfare, transportation, lodging & meals. We have secured a discounted room rate at a hotel in Canaan Valley for participants (this is also where we will be conducting classroom sessions). Car pool ride sharing is encouraged for traveling to shooting locations.

VISION & FOCUS
Joseph will focus on learning to “see” the landscape in new ways; unlocking creativity in situations that require conceptual and compositional ingenuity. In addition to composition and creative vision, they will discuss the best use of light and subject matter to create a memorable and remarkable images. During classroom sessions we will focus on creative and technical skills to help unlock vision & creativity. Image critiques will allow you to get feedback on your work throughout the week ensuring that you hone your skills and continue to push your personal and creative boundaries. Classroom editing sessions will cover Joe’s unique and creative approach to image development.
Itinerary
Friday - Meet & Greet starting at 5pm at the hotel followed by classroom lectures on Composition/Use of Light & shooting locations and how to best shoot from a boat for sharp images.
Saturday - Sunrise & morning field session at a boardwalk with haunting cypress tree’s and hanging moss followed by breakfast break. 12pm class session with lectures on shooting techniques including compositions, best practices, use of filters, creative exposure and more. Late afternoon/sunset field session on our private boats.
Sunday - Sunrise & morning field session by boat followed by breakfast break. afternoon class session session. Late afternoon/sunset field session on our private boats
Monday - Sunrise & morning field by boat followed by breakfast break. Afternoon class session focusing on post processing. Late afternoon/sunset field session on our private boats.
Tuesday - Sunrise/morning field session at Caddo Lake State (land based session).

PHYSICAL DIFFICULTY
Very easy, No long walks involved and most of the shooting locations take place in our comfortable private boats.
ACCOMODATIONS / AIRPORT
We have secured a block of discounted rooms in Marshall, Texas which will be our home base and is the nearest city to Caddo Lake and the tiny town of Uncertain. The hotel will be where classroom sessions will be held and our meeting point each day.
The nearest major airport is Dallas which is a three hour drive to our location. Other airports options are Shreveport, Louisiana (45 min drive), Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
A standard rental car will be fine for this workshop.
CANCELLATION POLICY
We reserve the right to cancel the workshop if minimum participants are not met or in the event of an emergency. If a cancellation does occur, participants may either use the fee towards a future workshop or receive a full refund. We are not responsible for travel expenses incurred and therefore strongly recommend travel insurance to cover such costs.
A $300 change fee will be charged for changes or cancellations. Participants who cancel prior to 90 days before the workshop will receive either a full refund or credit to a future workshop minus the change fee. Any cancellations within 90 days of the workshop cannot be refunded under any circumstances. Only if we are able to fill the vacancy, will the participant will receive a credit to a future workshop minus the change fee. Workshop credits are good for one calendar year from the date of the missed workshop.
Any cancellations within 30 days of the workshop (for any reason) will forfeit their entire registration fee as it is extremely difficult to fill the space on that short of notice. If a true emergency arises last minute we will do our best to work with you granting a partial credit towards a future workshop, but this is not guaranteed. Again travel insurance is strongly recommended.
