March 22-26, 2020 - Charleston, SC

Charleston is a beautiful southern coastal city and know for its breathtaking scenery and southern charm. Late March is the perfect time of year to visit this stunning region as it bursts into spring.  During this workshop we will shoot the famed Magnolia Plantation, Bald Cypress swamps, ancient Live Oaks draped in moss, the bone yard of skeleton trees on Edisto Island, Folly Beach and old city architecture. As with all of our workshops there will be ample field instruction, classroom critiques, software training and composition and field technique lectures.

The workshop will kick off at 2pm with an introductory meet and greet and slide show presentation before heading into the park for the late afternoon and into sunset. After the first day, we will meet well before sunrise to get to the best possible locations to chase the morning light and continue shooting until the sun is too high and light too harsh. We will break each day in the late morning until mid afternoon to eat and rest up for our afternoon/evening photography session. This will also be the time dedicated for post processing instruction in both Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop for those that are interested. The workshop ends at 10am on Thursday, March 26th.

Our Vision & Focus

Joseph will focus on learning to “see” the landscape in new ways; unlocking creativity in situations that require conceptual and compositional ingenuity.  In addition to composition and creative vision, they will discuss the best use of light and subject matter to create a memorable and publishable images. During classroom sessions we will focus on teaching a logical, effective workflow that ensures the highest quality for your work, as well an image archive that is stable, consistent, and retrievable over the long term, and that ultimately liberates rather than burdens.  They will cover step by step the process from shooting RAW files in the field to optimizing the final image in Adobe Lightroom & Photoshop.
