		<description><![CDATA[[...] Beautiful Badlands  By  Joseph Rossbach  &#124;  Published  June 17, 2012   This image was photographed near the old Paria Movie Set nestled in a colorful canyon in the hear of the Grand Staircase/Escalante National Monument. The movie set was used to film countless westerns over the years including one of my all time favorites, the Outlaw Josey Whales! Although the original movie set is long gone due to the forces of Mother Nature the multi-colored badlands and clay hills that made this such a dramatic and ideal location for filming still exist. One morning two November&#8217;s ago I wandered off into the hills looking for patterns in the mud and Bentonite hills when I stumbled upon this area of cracked mud backed up by some of the most colorful formations in the area. The soft light of morning shade really allowed the color to record in this image and I used my ultra wide-angle leans to get in close to the mud patterns looking for a perspective that allowed the eye to ride the lines moving back into the deep space of the image and find the amazing colors of the hills.  I am looking forward to getting back out into this area again this November in between running workshop out of Zion National Park and Valley of Fire.
