Valley of Fire State Park offers the best sandstone in the Southwest and is only an hour drive from Las Vegas, NV. This workshop will include field sessions in some of the most colorful and bizarre desert locations in the Southwest. With Joseph Rossbach as your instructor you will receive ample one-on-one instruction in the field as well as spirited critiques and post processing training.

Our base camp of discovery will be Overton, Nevada, just 15 minutes outside the park. On the first day, we will meet before sunrise to catch the first rays of golden light striking the landscape, then move into tighter canyons to shoot bounce and reflected light. In the afternoon, we will have a two hour classroom session focusing on Post Processing Techniques and Image Critiques. After that, we’ll venture back into the park until after sunset and then shoot star trails at night.

On Saturday morning, we will once again meet before sunrise and spend three hours chasing the light. The workshop will end no later than 10am.

Highlights include bizarre and colorful sandstone, natural arches, classic desert Southwest landscapes, canyon photography, star trail photography, digital darkroom training, image critiques and tons of inspiration.

Weather: Pleasant days followed by cool to cold nights. Average daytime highs are in the low to mid 80s and nights are in the mid to upper 40s and 50s.

What’s included in my tuition?
Tuition includes all lectures, fieldwork, guiding, software training and critiques of your digital files during our classroom sessions. Travel costs, lodging, entrance fees, and meals are not included in the cost of admission unless specified.

What is your cancellation policy?
If you cancel 90 or more days before the event, we will refund your deposit less a $50 handling charge. If you cancel anytime after the 90 day period before the workshop start date, we will refund your deposit if we can fill your spot.
