During this one-day intensive seminar, Joe and Ian will help you unlock your “secret” potential as a photographer, focusing on critical techniques for improving your field skills and your digital darkroom workflow. During the morning session, Joe and Ian will show you how to master two of the most difficult and essential nature photography skills: composition and working with natural light. The afternoon session will focus on Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop digital darkroom techniques that will streamline your workflow and help you bring your images to their fullest potential. By the end of the day, you will not only have a firm grasp on essential and advanced skills necessary for successful photography, you will also feel inspired to go out and make the best images you have ever made!

SEMINAR SCHEDULE

Sign-In (8:30AM-9AM): Note that we begin the seminar promptly at 9AM.

Morning Session (9AM-Noon): We’ll kick things off with a short welcome and introduction. Ian will start the seminar with a presentation on nature photography composition, taking you from basic concepts to advanced techniques. Once he is done, you’ll be seeing the world in a different way than before, and your creative eye will be honed allowing you to find compelling and eye-catching subject matter. After a short Q&A session, Joe will make a presentation on working with natural light. He’ll show you the best times of day for photography, and how to take advantage of dramatic natural events that can help take your nature photos to new heights. You’ll never look at storm clouds the same way after Joe’s presentation! We’ll conclude the morning session with another short Q&A, after which seminar participants are free for a lunch break.

Afternoon Session (1:30PM-4:30PM): The afternoon session starts with an informative presentation by Joe regarding basic workflow and advanced processing techniques using the extremely popular Adobe Lightroom program. Joe will show you a number of techniques that will easily and powerfully optimize your images. Following a Q&A session, Ian will conclude the seminar with a discussion of advanced Adobe Photoshop image editing techniques using layers and masks. These techniques will allow you to make precise adjustments to images, unlocking your creative potential and allowing you to fully express your artistic desires.

Conclusion (4:30PM-5PM): We’ll conclude with a final Q&A session and then some inspirational closing remarks by Joe and Ian. When the seminar is done, you’ll be eager to get out into the field and take your creative vision to new heights!

PLEASE NOTE: You do not need to bring camera equipment to the seminar, but you may want to bring something along for taking notes. A laptop is not required but you might find one helpful to follow along with during the afternoon digital darkroom session. Please note that the conference room has stadium style seating and therefore electrical outlets and desk space are not available for participants with laptops.
